Zombies would normally seem to be a young person’s games, but it appear Ian McKellan and Judi Dench want to get in on the flesh-eating as ScreenDaily reports they’ve joined the cast of co-writer-director Matthew Butler’s The Curse of the Buxom Strumpet. Dench will star as Mrs. Halfpint opposite Ian McKellen and the movie’s lead, Gillian Anderson.
Based on the short film E’gad, Zombies!, the period comedy is set in 1713, in the town of Upper Trollop, where a strange plague begins to turn the town’s residents into flesh eating cannibals. Lord Fortitude must then lead the survivors in an escape to survive.
Ian McKellen, who appeared in the original short, is reprising his character. If you’re wondering how he’s doing that, seeing as he’s now busy being Gandalf in New Zealan, he’s shot his scenes before he went off to The Hobbit (it sounds like he’ll largely be the narrator).
There is no news on when The Curse of the Buxom Strumpet.
