Magic Mike, the movie Channing Tatum has been developing after realising his adventures as a young stripper would be an interesting jumping off point for a flick, is certainly starting to come together. A couple weeks ago it was announced Steven Soderbergh would direct, and now Alex Pettyfer has signed onto star, according to Deadline.
And in news that should make more than a few ladies excited, in the movie Tatum will portray an older stripper who is mentor to Alex Pettyfer’s protege, with the film following the ups and down of their relationship. Yep, apparently even in the world of taking off your clothers, it helps to have a mentor. The movie will take take place during a crazy summer filled with booze and women.
Soderbergh will direct the movie (despite his supposed retirement, which he keeps announcing) presumably taking inspiration from Tatum, who first started stripping at the age of 19.
It isn’t known yet when production will start yet, but know Soderbergh, who not a fan of hanging around, don’t be surprised if things come together quickly.
