You don’t hear much about Rachel Weiz for ages, and then suddenly she the most in-demand actress around. Last week it was reported that Sam Raimi and Disney wanted her to play an evil witch in their movie, Oz: The Great And Powerful, and now it appears she the frontrunner for the female lead in The Bourne Legacy, and is also high on Johnny Depp and Rob Marshall’s list for The Thin Man. However there may not be time for her to do them all.
According to Deadline, she is is in serious talks to star in the The Bourne Legacy, but it’s not clear whether she’d be able to do both that and Oz. The fantasy flick is planning to shoot this summer, while Bourne won’t get going until September, meaning there could be some serious overlap. She may be able to do both, but it isn’t certain yet.
Jeremy Renner will take the lead in The Bourne Legacy, portraying a young covert agent (who’s a new character and not Jason Bourne him) who enters a program similar to Treadstone from the first three movies, but is apparently even more dangerous.
CinemaBlend also has a ‘trusted source’ that says Warner is considering Weisz for the female lead in The Thin Man, which will star Johnny Depp, with Rob Marshall announced as director yesterday. As yet, it’s not clear when the movie will be made (Depp’s schedule is a bit crammed at the moment), so no offer has been made, but Rachel is likely to be at the top of the list when plans become more definite.
