The casting race for the rival Snow White movies is heating up. While Snow White and the Huntsman is still having trouble finding its huntsman, The Brothers Grimm: Snow White (or whatever it ends up being called, as it’s currently officially untitled) is starting to fill out its extended cast, with Nathan Lane and British actor Robert Emms both signing up for the flick.
Lane and Emms join Oscar-winner Julia Roberts as the Wicked Queen, Lily Collins (The Blind Side) as Snow While, and Armie Hammer (The Social Network) as the Prince. According to the press release, ‘visionary director Tarsem Singh (Immortals) creates a spectacular reimagining of the classic fairy tale. An evil queen and an exiled princess struggle for control of their kingdom in a spirited adventure comedy, filled with jealousy, romance and betrayal, that will capture the imagination of audiences the world over.’
Lane is set to play Brighton, the Queen’s servant, while Emms, who will be seen this year in both Roland Emmerich’s Anonymous and Steven Spielberg’s War Horse, will play Renbock, Prince Alcott’s valet.
Pre-production has begun on Snow White, and principal photography will start in June. The theatrical release date is set for June 29, 2012.
