Well, I guess we can give up any hope of having a billion syncronised drummers like they did at the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony, as Danny Boyle has decided he has time to squeeze in a heist drama called Trance before he goes full time directing the opening shebang of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, according to Deadline.
The new movie is about an art heist gone wrong, and will mark his return to the ‘dark, sexy, hard-edged tone’ seen in such earlier work as Shallow Grave and Trainspotting. It isn’t clear who wrote the screenplay for Trance, and no other story details were given. Danny Boyle will reunite with producer Christian Colson, who are both in early talks with Fox Searchlight to secure funding.
Danny Boyle plans to start shooting Trance in September, on location in London. After filming wraps, Danny Boyle will work on the Olympic opening ceremony starting in January and, in August, he will return to work on Trance. It is believed the movie will be ready for a March 2013 release, if all goes according to this plan.
Early talks have begun with American and U.K. actors, although no names were mentioned at this time.
Well, I suppose that still gives him six months to put the London olympics opening together, although I think the Chinese starting practicing before they were even awarded the event!
