In the world of Hollywood, they don’t seem to know quite how to make films for women, unless they’re about weddings (which everyone with a vagina are obsessed with, right?), and now a new one has emerged that Will Ferrell is producing through his Gary Sanchez productions banner, which has the working title Batchelorette (although that’s likely to be changed).
Ferrell won’t star in the indie project, although THR reports that Lizzy Caplan, Kirsten Dunst, Adam Scott and Casey Wilson have all signed up.
Writer/director Leslye Headland’s script follows three best friends (including Caplan and Dunst) who are invited to be bridesmaids at the wedding of a girl they called Pigface in high school. Cloverfield star Caplans character is said to have a Playboy Bunny body with a Larry David brain, while Dunst’s character is described as crisp and severe, the sort of person who is both your best friend and your worst enemy.
Wilson is playing the bride, who has big plans for the three women (and we presume not pleasant ones), while Scott will be Caplans high school crush, who shows up at the wedding with a beautiful and much younger date.
The movie, which has a budget of only $3 million, should shoot this summer in New York.
