Although he’s yet to really show whether he can sustain the promise shown in The Hurt Locker, he’s certainly lined up a lot of roles that should help him rise to the top of the A-list, in the likes of The Avengers, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters and possibly The Bourne Legacy.
Now he’s setting up his own production company called The Combine, with their first announced project being a biopic of legendary actor Steve McQueen. Renner plans to both produce the untitled biopic and star as Steve McQueen. It’s a pretty good idea, as Jeremy does have the look of McQueen.
Ivan Zacharias, a music video director, will make his feature directorial debut on this project, working from a script by James Gray (We Own the Night). The script will be adapted from two books on the actor by Marshall Terrill, entitled Portrait of an American Rebel and The Life and Legend of a Hollywood Icon.
However, at the moment it isn’t certain when the movie will shoot. Renner’s a very busy boy, who’s just started shooting the Avengers, so it’s unlikely to film any time soon.
