Jane Lynch has been cast as Mother Superior in The Three Stooges for directors Peter Farrelly and Bobby Farrelly. Back in February, Cher was in talks for the role, but it seems they couldn’t reach a deal, and Glee star Jane Lynch has stepped in, according to Deadline.
Mother Superior is the iron-fisted nun who runs the orphange where the young Stooges grew up. Although she tries to find foster parents for the wise-cracking trio, it never happens. Jane Lynch joins a cast that includes Will Sasso as Curly, Sean Hayes as Larry, and possibly Chris Diamantopoulos, who it was revealed earlier this week is the front runner to play Moe.
Peter Farrelly and Bobby Farrelly will direct The Three Stooges from their own screenplay, which is divided into three separate Stooge-style vignettes that make up the whole story. Shooting is scheduled to begin in May.
