Seth MacFarlane’s live action debut has a new star, with the director signing up Patrick Warbuton. He’s the latest Family Guy actor to get a role, as MacFarlane’s on-board to helm and voice a talking teddy bear, Mila Kunis has the female lead, and now Deadline reports Warburton’s on-board.
The film stars Mark Wahlberg as a man called John, who has a talking teddy, but rather than being a nice, sweet Care Bears type creature, he’s a slacker, whose antics make it difficult for the man to commit to his long-suffering girlfriend (Kunis). Warburton will play Guy, the sexually confused co-worker of John at the Enterprise Rent-A-Car front office.
It seems Warburton was the only choice though, as the character is even described as being like him in the script.
My only problem with Warburton is that he has such a distinctive voice that while to some he will always be Puddy from Seinfeld, or even The Tick, I find it difficult to hear anything but Family Guy’s Joe Swanson whenever he opens his mouth. However he’s a very talented guy, so hopefully it’ll work out here.
And with the rest of the Family Guy cast on board, when are Alex Borstein and Seth Green going to get roles?
