He may only be 19, but Logan Lerman certainly seems to be going about building a movie career for himself the right way. While Percy Jackson wasn’t a smash hit, it got him noticed, and since then he’s picked projects that should show him both as a mainstream lead, and as a more thinky indie thesp.
He’s got the 3D Three Musketeers coming out later this year (he plays D’Artagnan), but will also shoot indie coming-of-age flick, The Perks Of Being A Wallflower. Now he’s got another less mainstream movie up his sleeve, with Deadline reporting that he’ll be The Only Living Boy In New York.
Allan Loeb (Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps) is on scripting duties, with the story centring on a young man (Lerman) who learns that his overbearing father is having an affair. The son tries to stop it, only to become involved with the woman as well. With advice from a questionable quirky neighbor, the young man learns about love.
Seth Gordon (King Of Kong, Horrible Bosses) will direct, with an autumn shoot planned.
There’s no guarantee Lerman will manage find longevity in the world of film, as it is a very fickle place, but he seems to be going about things the right way to get it.
