Stephen Frear’s Lay The Favorite is getting itself a nice little cast together. Bruce Willis, Rebecca Hall, Justin Timberlake, and Catherine Zeta-Jones have already signed on, and now Variety reports that Fringe star Joshua Jackson will join them.
The film will be based on the memoir by Beth Raymer, with Rebecca Hall playing a Las Vegas cocktail waitress who becomes one of the best sports gamblers in the world, although she questions her career choices after falling in love.
Willis will play Raymer’s mentor, Dink Heimowitz, Timberlake is set to portray a Long Island bookie who Raymer used to work for, and Catherine Zeta-Jones will play Heimowitz’s wife. It isn’t known what role Joshua Jackson will take.
D.V. DeVincentis is on scripting duties. It isn’t known when production will start on Lay the Favorite, although presumably it’ll be made this summer, so Jackson can fit it in between seasons 3 & 4 of Fringe.
