One of the potentially more interesting film that’s currently in production is The Help, based on Kathryn Stockett’s bestselling book and directed by her longtime friend Tate Taylor. Dreamworks and Disney (the latter will distribute the movie, which is due to arrive in cinemas Autumn 2011, just in time for Oscar consideration) have just sent over the first images from the movie, which shows us Emma Stone and co. in full 60s mode, as they try to deal with racial segregation and entrenched attitudes. Take a look above and below for the new pics, and here’s the official synopsis:
Based on the #1 New York Times best-selling novel by Kathryn Stockett, The Help stars Emma Stone (Zombieland) as Skeeter, a southern society girl who returns from college determined to become a writer, but turns her friends livesand a small Mississippi townupside down when she decides to interview the black women who have spent their lives taking care of prominent southern families.

Despite Skeeters life-long friendships hanging in the balance, she and Aibileen continue their collaboration and soon more women come forward to tell their storiesand as it turns out, they have a lot to say. Along the way, unlikely friendships are forged and a new sisterhood emerges, but not before everyone in town has a thing or two to say themselves when they become unwittinglyand unwillinglycaught up in the changing times.
