If you’re going to make a movie about dodgy financial dealings, Al Pacino is a damn good person to get on board. According to Variety he’s just signed up for Arbitrage, opposite Eva Green and Susan Sarandon.
In the movie, Pacino plays a hedge fund magnate who is in over his head and desperate to complete the sale of his trading empire to a major bank before his fraud is revealed. However an unexpected, and violent, error, forces him to turn to the most unlikely place for help.
While the title Arbitrage and the fact it’s about a hedge fund does indeed sound dull, you gotta hope Pacino can inject a bit of machiavellian life into it. As with many of the movies being announced this week, the plan is to sell it to distributors at the American Film Market. Nicholas Jarecki (The Informers) will direct, with hopes it’ll start shooting in the spring.
