Initially it was known as Im.mortal, then for the last few weeks it’s been untitled, and now it’s been announced that Andrew Niccol’s new film will be called Now. Personally, I preferred the original name, as Now is just a little bit boring.
It’s also got some new cast members, as Deadline reports that Alex Pettyfer and Matt Bomer (TV’s White Collar) have signed up for the flick. Unfortunately there’s no news on what roles they’ll play, other than they’ll be ‘starring’ ones. However there’s can’t be that many big roles left, as the cast already includes Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried, Cillian Murphy, Collins Pennie. Olivia Wilde, Vincent Kartheiser, and Johnny Galecki.
The movie is set in a future society where the aging process stops at around the age of 25. To avoid overpopulation, time has become the currency and the way people pay for luxuries and necessities. The rich can live forever, while the rest try to negotiate for their immortality. A poor rebel called Will (Justin Timberlake) kills someone for their time and goes on the run from a corrupt police force known as ‘time keepers’, taking Amanda Seyfried’s character hostage. Inevitably though captor and captive start to fall for one another.
Deadline also mentions that Pettyfer, who many are expecting to break out soon with Beastly and I Am Number Four, is on the shortlist for Bryan Singer’s Jack The Giant Killer, along with Aaron Johnson and Max Irons. Expect to here more in that soon.
