Last week, rumours emerged that Tom Hardy was being lined up for the lead role in Snow White and the Huntsman, which by Friday had become so unbiqitous that it was virtually assumed he was a shoo-in for the role. However now it appears he may have competition, as The Wrap is reporting that Johnny Depp has been offered the part.
It isn’t clear whether Depp is in the mix with Hardy, or if the Inception actor turned the role down, although The Wrap suggests it could be the latter, with the actor instead concentrating on his role in the upcoming The Dark Knight rises. There’s no news either on whether Depp would even be vaguely interested in the part, as at the moment it’s only an offer.
However Universal is going to have to find someone soon, as the studio has already pencilled in a release date of December 21st, 2012, with plans to start shooting this coming January (the movie needs extensive post-production work, which is why it’ll be nearly two years between filming and release.
