It’s nearly time put put on makeup and light the lights, as the new Muppet Movie, written by Jason Segal and Nicholas Stoller, is not far away from shooting, with Flight Of The Conchords James Bobin directing. We already knew Segel would star in the flick, and more recently Amy Adams, Rashida Jones and Chris Cooper signed up to play some of the other non-puppet cast members. Now it appears Zach Galifianakis will join them.
However he’s only going to have a fairly small role, as while he was out promoting his upcoming Due Date, he told E! Online he’d be shooting “a couple of days” on the Muppet flick (well, actually it was Robert Downey Jr. who spilled the beans, which you can see below), which won’t give him much time to film more than a cameo.
The Muppets will see Segel and Adams as a couple who head to Hollywood to visit the famed Muppet Theater. But wouldn’t you know it, the theater is under threat, with a greedy oil tycoon (Chris Cooper), wanting to tear it down, and Kermit and co. needing help to save it. The film is currently set for a Christmas 2011 release. Take a look below to see Galifianakis looking slightly pissed that RDJ has told the world about his Muppets role.
