Snow White And The Huntsman may have only been announced a few weeks ago, but with at least two rival projects also based on the fairy tale in the works, Relativity Media & Universal are moving fast to try and ensure they don’t get left behind, and are already attempting to put the cast together.
The film will rejig the classic fairy story and tell it from the perspective of the man charged with taking Snow White into the woods and killing her. In this version the story gets a bit buddy movie, with the huntsman teaching Snow While survival skills, and the duo going on the run together. Now the producers are apparently eyeing Tom Hardy for the lead role, according to The Playlist. The actor is said to be very interested, as long as he can squeeze shooting in between This Mean War and his unspecified role in Batman 3 (meaning a shoot late this year or very early 2011).
The studio is also very interested in having Angelina Jolie play Ravenna, the evil stepmother and villain of the piece. However pretty much every movie is interested in having Angelina Jolie involved somehow, so this may mean little, although it has been suggested the actress is intrigued, but it’s not yet known whether she’ll be available.
It’s also worth noting that his Hardy does sign on, it will put him out of Contention for Total Recall, a project he’s said to be one of the top choices for.
