For a while now, Mad Men creator Matt Weiner has been hard at work writing his first feature film, which will also serve as his direcotrial debut, a comedy called You Are Here. When it was first mooted, it was believed Jennifer Aniston, Bradley Cooper and Zach Galifianakis were all attached to star, but if Pajiba is correct, none of those actors is involved any longer (due to shooting on the film being delayed, becuase of scheduling clashes with Mad Men), and instead a new trio has signed up.
Now it appears Jack Black, Matt Dillon and Renée Zellweger are all planning to star in the movie, and there’s also an offer out to rachel McAdams to join them. The story centres on two thirtysomething roommates who try their hardest to be free from the normal responsibilities of adult life. Things change when one of the roommates’ fathers dies and leaves him a general store, a house in the country and a massive spread of Amish farm land. Jack Black is attached as the heir, with Renée Zellweger set to play his sister, who is upset that all of the land and the store went to her feckless brother. Rachel McAdams is up to play the widow who both roommates fall for. It wasn’t said if Matt Dillon is attached to play the other roommate, a successful weatherman who drinks heavily and demeans women, or if he would play another unspecified role.
The hope is that the movie can shoot early next year, before Weiner gets too tied up with the next series of Mad Men.
