It’s not often a major director can get a movie into production before anyone hears much about it, but it seems that’s what Francis Ford Coppola has done. Deadline reports that Coppola has quietly begun filming his next movie, and that it’ll be called Twixt Now And Sunrise.
The film, which is desribed as being ‘a thriller with overtones of horror’, has Val Kilmer in the lead role as a horror novelist, and will also star Elle Fanning and Bruce Dern. Unfortunately nothing else is known about the plot, other than that it’s based on a short story Coppola wrote himself.
The reason the director has managed to keep things quiet isn’t just because he’s basing the film on his own story, but also because the film has been funded completely independently and he’s shooting on his own Napa Valley property. The last couple of films Coppola has made, Youth Without Youth and Tetro, wwere pretty much ignored, and he didn’t have much luck last time he tried horror with Bram Stoker’s Dracula, but let’s hope this one gets a bit more traction.
