Following the recent release of his drunken, racist rants, it’s pretty fair to say that most in Hollywood thought that Mel Gobson’s on-screen career had pretty much been completely killed off, especially as he was only just returning from the wilderness following his anti-semetic DUI arrest. Some suspected he may have been okay behind the camera but few expected him to be appearing on cinema screens anytime soon.
However yesterday rumours started emerging that Gibson would be back, at least in cameo form. Speculation over who would be having an unexpected turn in the movie started last week, when Sasha Barese told E! that, “Its the best cameo youve ever seen in your entire life Its a guy, [but] thats all Im going to say. Its the best.”
Now PageSix is claiming that Gibson is the man for that cameo, and he’ll play a Bagkok tattooist in the movie. Speculation has already started that the with the role, Gibson may be trying to reinvent his battered image, much in the way Mike Tyson did on the first Hangover movie.
Mel’s involvement in the film has now been confirmed THR, and while they say it’s a very small role, it’s a pivotal one, as the plot features one of the characters going under the needle during a night of debauchery. And despite Mel’s troubles, if done the right way, it could be a very nifty piece of casting indeed.
