Noomi Rapace must be counting her lucky stars, as when she was cast as Lisbeth Salander in the Scandinavian version of Stieg Larsson’s Millennium novels, she can have little suspected that it would push her towards the top of Hollywood’s casting wish-lists.
She’s already signed up for Sherlock Holmes 2, is said to be on Ridley Scott’s list for the Alien prequel, and now she’s taken a role in The Last Voyage Of Demeter.
The LA Times has the news, saying she’ll star in the film, which takes a few lines from Bram Stoker’s Dracula and spins it out into a whole movie. Stoker says that when Dracula’s coffin was transported to England on the ship, the Demeter, it arrived in port ravaged and with no survivors on-board. The film will take that legend and imagine what really went on, as the undead passengers sinks his teeth into the ship’s crew, with Rapace playing a stowaway aboard the boat. It’s also reported that Ben Kingsley will take a role in the flick, although it’s not known who he will play. As yet, no actor has been chosen for the lead role.
Stefan Ruzowitzky (The Counterfeiters) is due to direct.
