There have been a few competing projects in the last year about couriers stuck in a dangerous situation, and while some have fallen by the wayside, Hany Abu-Assab’s The Courier is still around and its cast is growing, with Mickey Rouke and Inglourious Basterds actor Til Schweiger signing up.
Watchmen star Jeffrey Dean Morgan was announced a few weeks ago for the lead role, playing a courier with a penchant for dangerous assignments. When he’s hired to deliver a briefcase to a notorious crime figure who hasn’t been seen in years, he finds himself being chased by corrupt cops and federal agents along with rivals from the criminal world.
The Wrap is reporting that Rourke and Schweiger have signed on, although they have no news on who Rourke will play. However it appears Schweiger will be an FBI agent (incidentally, Variety is reporting Schweiger will also appear in MCG’s This Means War, opposite Chris Pine, Tom Hardy and Reese Witherspoon).
The Courier starts shooting this month in New Orleans.
