While live action/animated movies with the full Looney Tunes crew don’t seem to have found much of an audience, Warner is obviously hoping that a bit of CG and breaking it down to a single classic character will help. However rather than going for Bugs or Daffy, it’s Pepe Le Pew who’s getting his own movie, and according to Vulture, he’ll have the voice of Mike Myers.
The amourous skunk, who’s forever looking for love with a cat with a white stripe accidentally painted down her back, was first created in 1945. However as anyone who’s seen the cartoons with know, he was always a very limited character, with one instalment virtually indistinguishable from another, so hopefully they’ll find a way to broaden Pepe’s scope. That said, a Pepe Le Pew cartoon did win the 1949 Oscar for Best Animated Short.
Apparently Warner is looking at ways of reviving several of their classic Looney Tunes characters, and presumable Pepe Le Pew, which will be a mix of live-action and CGI, is seen as a bit of a test run.
