Here’s the latest casting news coming out of Hollywood…
Bruce Willis has signed up to star in Ten, with Patrick Alessandrin (District 13: Ultimatum) directing from a script by Skip Woods (The A-Team). It’s a vaguely interesting development, as Alessandrin just dropped out of another, higher profile, Willis movie, Kane & Lynch, causing it to be delayed for the umpteenth time. The reason Ten doesn’t get a full story on its own though, is that there’s absolutely no info on what it’s about, other than it’s set in the near future. (Source: Deadline)
Idris Elba, whose star is quickly exploding thanks to roles in The Losers, Takers and the upcoming Thor, has now joined the cast of Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance. The film sees Johnny Blaze, aka Ghost Rider, hiding in Eastern Europe, where he is hired by a sect to take on the devil (Ciaran Hinds), who wants to take over his mortal sons body. Elba plays an alcoholic warrior monk tasked with finding Ghost Rider. Another new cast member is Johnny Whitworth (CSI: Miami, Gamer), who’ll be a criminal who is recruited by the devil to find the boy and is later turned into a demonic creature. (Source: THR)
Chelsea Handler, the comedienne who’s probably best known over here for her irreverent talk show, is joining the cast of McG’s This Means War, playing the best friend of Reese Witherspoon’s character. And Reese will probably need a lot of support, as the film follows the excalating battle for her affections between two CIA agents (Chris Pine and Tom Hardy), which eventually leads to widespread destruction. This Means War starts shooting in a couple of weeks. (Source: Deadline)
Even though he’s approaching his 75th birthday, Alan Alda is a busy man, booking in two new film roles. He’s joined the casts of both Bret Ratner’s Tower Heist and David Wain’s Wanderlust. Tower Heist sees Ben Stiller as a former manager of a luxury building, who loses everything in a scam, and along with other victims decides to take back what’s his by breaking into the fraudster’s highrise apartment and robbing him. It’s Alda who’ll be the bad guys who’s taken everyone’s cash. In Wanderlust, which sees Jennifer Aniston and Paul Rudd as a couple who lose everything and movie into a hippie commune, he’ll be the head of that ‘naturalist village’. They’re both potentially fun roles, and it’ll be interesting to see what Alda makes of them. (Source: THR)
