When the trailer for True Grit was released online last week, rumours almost immediately started flying that a longer version was going to be issued to US cinemas over the weekend. That turned out to be true, and now the full trailer has been released on the web, giving us an even better look at the Coen Brother’s take on the story best known from John Wayne’s Oscar-winning 1969 film. Jeff Bridges takes on Wayne’s role of Rooster Cogburn, a past-his-prime gunslinger, who is hired by young Mattie Ross (Hailee Steinfeld) to go into Indian territory and track down her father’s killer. The Coens’ film is said to cleave closer to the original book than the John Wayne flick, telling the story through Mattie’s eyes. True Grit, which also stars Matt Damon and Josh Brolin, will hit UK cinemas on January 14th, 2011.
