Looper seems to have been in development for a long time now, slowly pulling its cast together and getting ready to shoot. Joseph Gordon Levitt and Bruce Willis have both been attached for quite a while to the Rian Johnson (Brick) movie, and now Production Weekly tweets that Emily Blunt is likely to join them.
Although they say she’s only rumoured, Production Weekly don’t usually release info unless they’ve got some reliable sources. However what they don’t say is the role she’s up for, although it’s likely to be the female lead, a mother called Sara.
The film is set in the near future, a few decades before the invention of time travel and a novel new way of disposing of bodies – take them back in time and dump them there, so there’s no evidence to link anyone to the crime in the future. These killers are known as Loopers, with Gordon Levitt as one of these time-travelling assassins, who goes on the run after complications arise, with Sara finding him hiding out on her farm. Willis meanwhile plays another Looper.
Although nothings set in stone, it looks likely the movie will shoot early next year.
