Vincent Kartheiser Signs Up To Be I’m.mortal – Although the Andrew Niccol movie is changing its name

29th September 2010 By Tim Isaac

While most of the Mad Men praise has been heaped on Jon Hamm, just as impressive in the series is Vincent Kartheiser as the rather weaselly Pete, but unlike Hamm, his career outside the show hasn’t really taken off.

That may be about to change though, as Variety reports that he’s signed up for Andrew Niccol’s new sci-fi flick, which up until now was going by the title I’m.mortal, but which currently has no name. Justin Timberlake is attached to the lead role, with Amanda Seyfried and Cillian Murphy also due to star.

The movie is set in future society where the aging process stops at around the age of 25. To avoid overpopulation, time has become the currency and the way people pay for luxuries and necessities. The rich can live forever, while the rest try to negotiate for their immortality. A poor rebel called Will (Timberlake) kills someone for their time and goes on the run from a corrupt police force known as ‘time keepers’, taking Amanda Seyfried’s character hostage. Inevitably though captor and captive start to fall for one another.

Interestingly, due to the fact everyone looks as if they’re around the same age, 31-year-old Kartheiser will play the father of 25-year-old Seyfried, who is forced to choose between the daughter he loves and the oppressive time system that has made him rich. Collins Pennie has also joined the cast as the right hand man of Cillian Murphy’s Time Keeper.
