It’s almost surprising that none of the stars of Lost has managed to really launch a film career while the show has been going on (except perhaps Matthew Fox, who’s appeared in a couple of things), but now the series is over, they’re got time to find some better movie gigs.
Josh Holloway for one is readying himself to join Mission: Impossible IV, which will undoubtedly be his biggest film role yet. THR reports that he’s in final negotiations to ‘act as a member of the Impossible Mission Force, the secret agent task force headed by Tom Cruise’.
With this film billed as a bit of a transition, readying the franchise for a non-Cruise future, Holloway will have to hope he fares better than most of Tom’s previous teammates, who’ve usually died pretty quickly so that the star could hog the limelight.
Holloway joins Jeremy Renner, Paula Patton and Vladimir Mashkov as well as franchise vets Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg in the flick. There’s still no news on the plot, but director Brad Bird has been busy scouting locations in Vancouver, Prague and Dubai, with shooting due to commence soon, and the film in cinemas December 2011.
