Some movies seem to have so many pre-production problems that you get the impression the studio should take the hint and give up, but when you’ve got a property like the hit video game Kane & Lynch, the potential dollar signs ensure the studio will keep plodding on, especially with Bruce Willis and Jamie Foxx already attached to the project.
However, while the movie was planning to start shooting next month, the whole thing has now been postponed, as director Patrick Alessandrin (District 13: Ultimatum) has dropped out, although no reason has been given as to why he left. However 24 Frames reports that several directors who were previously considered, such as F. Gary Gray, Wayne Kramer and Antoine Fuqua, are no back in contention, but no replacement has been chosen yet.
Alessandrin isn’t the first to leave, as Simon Crane did the same thing a while back. However, with no one in the driving seat, production in now unlikely to start until the beginning of next year at the earliest.
In the film, Adam ‘Kane’ Marcus (Willis), is a mercenary who is forced to team up with the psychopathic killer James Lynch (Foxx) and travel the world in order to recover a doomsday device before Kane’s kidnapped wife and daughter are killed by the criminals who broke the duo out of prison for the mission.
