While Man On A Ledge initially sounded quite small and dull, it’s quietly got a rather good cast together. A few months ago Sam Worthington took the lead role of a former NYPD officer, who threatens to jump from a ledge and kill himself, while a female psychologist attempt sto stop him.
Recently Jamie Bell came onboard as Worthington’s brother, who happens to be planning a heist of a jewelry store across the street from where the suicide attempt is taking place (and no, that’s not a coincidence), while Anthony Mackie also signed up for a role.
While Amy Adams was previously rumoured for the part of the female psychologist, Deadline reports that it’s now gone to Elizabeth Banks. They add that the NYPD crisis negotiator also has a past relationship with the potential jumper (why does that always happen in films?), and that part of the reason Worthington is threatening to kill himself, is because he’s been framed for a crime he didn’t commit (hmm, and that too).
The movie will start shooting in November, with Asger Leth directing. Expect it in cinemas next year.
