Now here’s one where you’ll just have to decide for yourself, however ShogunGamer has received a video that seems to suggest a live-action Pokemon movie is in the works – or at least that someone has shot a trailer for one, to guage interest in a potential full-length film.
However there’s been no previous word on this, the footage is shaky and seemingly shot illicitly and it’s impossible to tell where it came from, although it does look cool. Here’s the e-mail ShogunGamer got from its anonymous source, who calls himself Professor Oak: “I’ve been lurking this site for a while and I wanted to see if you were interested in posting this video I captured tonight. Today after work my friend and I were invited to view a “secret movie trailer screening.” We were not told what it would be, but when I got there 30 other people and myself were shown a trailer for a Pokemon live action movie. It was super sketchy but I decided to record the last 30 seconds or so of the trailer which was about 3 min long. The clip is in a zip file and the password is “gottacatchemall.” I can’t give you much more detail then this. I wasn’t supposed to film this, but holy shit it was awesome. I’ll be in touch with you guys when I can talk more about it.”
It’s all very mysterious, and leaves various possibilities. It could be just what it says, it could be an elaborate fake, or it could be a studio/production company deliberately leaking it, so they can maintain secrecy while gauging wider interest in the idea and whether it’s worth making a Pokemon live-action feature. I’d say the latter is a decent bet. Either way, watch below and decide for yourself.
