Daniel Stamm has attracted a huge amount of attention in Hollywood with his micro-budget but very successful The Last Exorcism, and now it’s been confirmed that he’ll helm the next Night Chronicles movie. It is perhaps a bad move for the director, as whoever directs a Night Chronicles film will be overshadowed by the ego of M. Night Shyamalan, but hopefully Stamm can overcome that.
In case you don’t know, the Night Chronicles are films that come from an idea by Shyamalan, but which are written and directed by other people, with the first of them, Devil, out this Friday. The second, which will be directed by Stamm and written by Buried screenwriter Chris Sparling, was originally titled Twelve Strangers, but Deadline reports it’s now going by the title, Reincarnate.
As the original name of the film suggested, it’s about a jury, but one haunted by supernatural forces while they try to decide the fate of an accused murderer. Reincarnate will shoot sometime next year.
