It seems there might be a bit of casting musical chairs going on with Violet and Daisy, as while the likes of Bruce Willis and Carey Mulligan were recently being rumoured for roles in the movie, they’re not even mentioned in a new report from Variety, which says James Gandolfini and Saoirse Ronan will take the lead roles.
The movie, written and directed by Geoffrey Fletcher (who won an Oscar for his Precious screenplay), is about a pair of teenage assassins (one of whome is Ronan) who are hired for what’s supposed to be a quick and easy job, but thing get complicated when the man they’re supposed to kill (Gandolfini), isn’t who they expected.
Although not mentioned in the Variety report, Alexis Bledel is rumoured for the other hitgirl, which would suggest Mulligan is out completely, while it would appear Gandolfini is taking over the role originally pencilled in for Bruce Willis. Shooting is due to begin at the end of the month.
