Drive is really turning into an interesting proposition, going from a rather dull sounding project with Hugh Jackman starring and Neill Marshall directing, to something more intriguing as a new director and cast have come together. Bronson’s Nicholas Winding Refn is now helming, with Ryan Gosling in the lead role, and the likes of Carey Mullian, Bryan Cranston, and Oscar Isaacs in the cast, along with the rather unexpected Albert Brooks as the villain.
Now another hot actress has signed up, with Variety reporting that flame-haired Mad Men star Christina Hendricks will appear in the movie, although they don’t say what role she’ll play.
The movie is an adaptation of the James Sallis novel about a nameless Hollywood stuntman (Gosling), who moonlights as a freelance getaway driver during robberies. When a bank heist goes wrong, he ends up on the run with a contract on his head and an ex-cons girlfriend (Mulligan) in his car, who’s he promised to help. Shooting begins in LA at the end of the month.
