Since scoring the role of Bond girl Strawberry Fields in Quantum Of Solace, Gemma Arterton has certainly done well for herself, becoming one of the most in demand actresses in Hollywood, taking a mix of big budget movies like Prince Of Persia and Clash Of The Titans as well as smaller movies where she wows the critics with her performances, like The Disappearance Of Alice Creed and Tamara Drewe.
As a result she’s got a very full slate of movies lined up, and she’s been telling The Times (via The Playlist) all about it. Perhaps the biggest news is that Ridley Scott has specifically asked to have a meeting with her about his upcoming Alien prequel(s), after being impressed by her perfromance in Alice Creed. Scott has already said that like Ripley in the other Alien films, his prequels will be led be a strong female protagonist, so it’s presumably this role Arterton is being considered for.
The actress also says she’s joined the cast of the Ruth Rendell adaptation of The Key To The Street, which features a script by Christopher Nolan, which he wrote several years ago but is only now coming to the screen (although he won’t direct, and a helmer is yet to be announced). The story is about a bone marrow donor who enters into a relationship with a man whose life she helped save, but he may not be who he appears to be.
Finally, Arterton also revealed she attached to the upcoming comedy-western In With The Outlaws, which is due to be directed by Richard E. Grant, which will also star Gabriel Byrne and Timothy Spall.
