Supper clubs aren’t exactly a subject that immediately speaks of horror, but Centurion and Descent director Neill Marshall obviously thinks they’re a subject worth exploring, as he’s planning to direct a movie about them, called Underground.
Deadline reports that the film is ‘a David Cohen-scripted horror thriller set in the world of gourmet underground supper clubs’, although that’s about all the details they have. However the suggestion is that what’s on the menu is human flesh! The main character will be an ambitious chef who ends up in the underground world of extreme cuisine.
Although on the surface it seems a slightly odd idea, hopefully they’ll have come up with something suitably scary, and that Marshall can get back to what he does best – scaring the audience – rather than trying for the limper thrills we’ve had in Doomsday and Centurion.
