Although it’s somewhat tough to see how they’re going to make a movie out of Edgar Allan Poe’s The Raven, nevertheless that’s V For Vendetta director James McTeigue’s plan, although he’s got a fairly ingenious plan of how to do it. Now John Cusack has announced, via his very own Twitter account, that he’ll be playing the lead in the movie, saying, “officiali-will play Edgar Allan Poe in fall-a-film called The Raven, send any Poe- gold – my way as i begin this journey into the abyss”.
The idea behind the thriller isn’t just to adapt the slightly surreal poem, but to tell a story set during the final five mysterious days of Poe’s life, when he gets wrapped up in a serial killer investigation, whose murders are incpired by Poe’s stories. McTeigue has described it as like the poem, The Raven, itself, crossed with Se7en”. Jeremy Renner and Ewan McGregor have both previouslly been linked to the film, although it’s unclear if they’re still involved in any capacity.
McTeigue plans to start shooting the movie this autumn.
