The rules of being an American film comedy actor seem to be that when it appears your career is on the slide, you line up a role where you play a woman and hope it reignites interest. That’s what Adam Sandler is doing with Jack & Jill, where following a string of underperforming movies he’s decided to take on the roles of fraternal twins, playing both family man Jack, and his sister Jill, who comes to visit for Thanksgiving and then won’t leave.
THR reports that Sandler now has some company in the movie, with Katie Holmes in talks to play Jack’s wife, while Al Pacino is being lined up to play himself. There’s no news on quite how Pacino playing himself will work in the movie, or indeed if it’ll be anything more than a cameo.
Holmes, who went quiet after Batman Begins so she could be Tom Cruise’s silent wife and raise their kid, is coming back with avengeance at the moment, with The Romantics, The Son Of No One, The Extra Man and Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark all set to open in the next few months. She’ll be on the Jack & Jill set in October, with Dennis Dugan directing.
