I’ve been trying to work out if anyone will care about this (probably not even the actress herself), but it’s a slow news day of the highest order, so I might as well mention that Andie MacDowell has joined the cast of the remake of Footloose.
Younger readers may not be aware that MacDowell used to be a proper actress, and that she hasn’t spent her entire life under soft lighting talking about anti-wrinkle creams. She’s actually appeared in quite a few movies in the past decade, just nothing anyone would want to watch. However now she’s set to play the wife of Dennis Quaid’s strict reverend in the Footloose remake, who stands by as her hubby vents his hatred of music by banning dancing in his small town.
The film should actually have been in cinemas last year, but after seeing both Zac Efron and Chace Crawford leave the main role, as well as director Kenny Ortega stepping aside to make way for Craig Brewer, it’s been on a rather rocky road to the screen, which means it’s still waiting for production to gear up.
Little known dancer Kenny Wormald is now set for the lead role, with shooting due to start next month, and a release pencilled in for next April. (Source: EW)
