Disney seems to be going through a bit of a monster phase at the moment, as they’ve already got Monsterpocalypse, with Tim Burton attached, in development, and now they’ve bought a script called Monster Witness Relocation Program.
Deadline reports that the House Of Mouse bought the pitch from Ahmet Zappa and Michael Wilson, with the suggestion being that it’s going to be developed as a star vehicle for Jaden Smith, although that hasn’t been confirmed yet.
As yet, no story details have emerged, although the title alone should give us a clue this may be a bit like Men In Black but with monsters, or perhaps about people who have to be relocated because a monster is after them.
Deadline notes that this isn’t the first monster project DIsney has bought from Zappa, as several years ago they purchased his kid’s book, The Monstrous Memoirs of a Mighty McFearless, about a brother and sister who discover they hail from a long line of monster hunters. However that fell into development hell and never acutally became a film, so we’ll just have to wait and see what happens with this one.
