Sandra Bullock and Tom Hanks look set to team up for Paramount and Warner Bros. adaptation of Jonathan Safran Foers Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close: A Novel, which Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot, The Reader) is set to direct.
Apparently the two stars haven’t closed their deals yet, but it’s looking extrememly likely they’ll play the parents of Oskar Schell, a nine-year-old amateur inventor, jewelry designer, astrophysicist, tambourine player and pacifist, as he searches New York for the lock that matches a mysterious key left by his father when he was killed in the September 11 attacks, a quest that intertwines with the story of his grandparents, whose lives were blighted by the firebombing of Dresden.
The filmmakers are still looking for someone someone to play the young lead, but they seem to have managed quite find quite a star duo for the parents. The film should start shooting in January, based on a script by Eric Rother (Forrest Gump, Benjamin Button). (Source: Thompson on Hollywood)
