It appears husband and wife Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard are planning to work together, as in an interview with Screencrave, she indicated that that they’re putting together a biopic of Bill Monroe.
She says, “Bill Monroe, who invented Blue Grass music, had a kind of Sid and Nancy style affair with this woman Bessie Lee Mauldin throughout his life and T-Bone Burnett’s going to do the music and Callie Khouri who wrote Thelma & Louise wrote the script, so we’re going to do that together.”
Presumably Sarsgaard is lined up for Monroe, with Gyllenhaal as Bessie, but there’s no other news about the film, which appears to be in the early stages, so don’t expect to see in in cinemas for a couple of years yet.
