Don’t be surprised if there’s a casting update for X-Men: First Class virtually every day for the next couple of weeks, as the film prepares to start shooting early next month. Hot on the heels of Rose Byrne and Jason Flemyng signing on, comes news that Oliver Platt has also been added to the cast.
According to Deadline, he’ll be playing a non-mutant known simply as The Man In Black. There’s pretty much no info on who The Man In Black is, although it certainly sounds like some sort of government agent, who’s likely to be investigating mutants and not too friendly to their cause, causing a bit more trouble for Professor X and Magneto, rather than just Kevin Bacon’s still unspecified villain.
The film largely focusses on Professor X and Magneto friendship before the latter went off and became evil, as well as the setting up of the school for mutants. It’ll be in cinemas June 2011.
