Films about Marilyn Monroe seem popular at the moment, with Michelle Williams set to star in one, with Naomi Watts set for another. Now a third possible film that will feature the icon has emerged, which rumours suggest has Angelina Jolie to play her. Not only that, but it had supposedly lined up George Clooney as Frank Sinatra.
The news came via The Telegraph, which says the stars are lined up for an adaptation of Andrew O’Hagan’s novel, The Life and Opinions of Maf the Dog, and of His Friend, Marilyn Monroe, which is a biography of Monroe told through the eyes of a maltese poodle named Mafia Honey a.k.a. Maf.
The news came from O’Hagan himself at the Edinburgh International Book Festival, but before we get too excited, it should be pointed out that either the author is exagerrating or somebody’s been shining him on about the possibilities for an adaptation, as THR reports that both Jolie and Clooney’s agents are denying the reports, and not in terms that suggest maybe it’s a possibility. So it seems that the Clooney/Jolie partnership won’t happen, even though it’s a very intriguin idea.
