Quite a few cool new posters have debuted in the last day or so, so take a look below to see them…
Julie Taymor must like Shakespeare, as out of the four films she’s directed, two of them have been based on his plays (the others were Frida and Across The Universe). She started her movie career with Titus, based on Titus Adronicus, and now has The Tempest coming to cinemas later this year. Like Titus, it uses imagination to take a small budget a long way, and stars Helen Mirren as sorceror Propsera (in a bit of gender-bending from the original’s Prospero), alongside David Strathairn, Djimon Hounsou, Alfred Molina and Russell Brand. It’s all too exciting for words, but after the announcement and trailer last week, comes the one-sheet for the 25th anniversary re-release of Back To The Future, which will be hitting cinemas on October 1st. The pic cleverly keeps the spirit of the original 1985 poster, which must be one of the most famous in movie history. (Image via Empire)
Although very similar to one of the first US posters, the new UK quad for the Ryan-Reynolds-trapped-in-a-coffin thriller, Buried, has just been released. The movie, which was a hit at Sundance and has been exciting festival audiences ever since, hits cinemas on September 29. (Image via Empire)
One of the more intriguing films of the year, with the potential to be 2010’s District 9, is Monsters, Gareth Edward’s upcoming sci-fi flick, which has just got a new poster. Made for next to no money (the budget for the actual shoot was $15,000), Monsters is set six years after a NASA space prove arrives back on Earth containing alien life, which grows, evolves and starts to cause havoc, turning the southern US and north of Mexico into an alien infested zone! The film focusses on two characters and their experience in this terrifying new world. Monsters will hit UK cinemas on November 12th. (Image via Movieweb)
