It looks like Tarzan will be swinging back into cinemas, as Variety reports that German outfit Constantin Film, are prepping a 3D CG animated movie, based on the ape man. Constanting has purchased the film rights to all the Tarzan books from Edgar Rice Burroughs estate, and now plan to tell the tale of the aristocratic child who ends up being raised by apes in computer generated form.
It seems its early days thought, as they don’t have a writer or director yet, although it is known the film will be in English. CG movies are a bit of a departure for Constantin, which has laregely made German films, as well as being involved in the likes of the Resident Evil movies, Skinwalkers and Pandorum. However CG may be the way to go, as a couple of years ago Warner was reportedly developing a live action version of the tale, but that’s currently in development hell due to script issues and budget problems.
