Although I’m still not entirely certain Scarlet Johansson can act (and she actually seems to be getting more wooden as the years go by), people in the film world still seem to like her, as she never has any trouble finding roles. Now Vulture suggests she’s in talks to join Vince Vaughn in the David O’Russell flick, Old St. Louis.
The movie, which was announced last week, is about a traveling salesman (Vaughn) who has been an absentee father, and how his life changes when his daughter becomes part of his life. Johansson would be Vaughn’s ‘paramour, a secretary who accompanies them on their cross-country sales jaunt’.
While it was originally suggested it was an original script by David O’Russell, it now appears it’s actually based on a screenplay by Steve Pink and Allan Loeb from several years ago called Toy Men, which has been completely rewritten by the director. As the moment the movie is still trying to find funding, but with Vaughn and Johansson, it shouldn’t have too much difficulty doing that.
