She may have been busy divorcing Sean Penn and dropping his surname from the end of her name, but it seem Robin Wright is ready for another major role, as part of the wave she seems to be riding at the moment. She’s already shot the lead in Robert Redford’s The Conspirator, will star opposite Brad Pitt in Moneyball, and now it seems she’s close to signing onto the David Fincher directed adaptation of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.
She’ll join Daniel Craig and the recently announced Stellan Skargard in the film, which is based on Siteg Larsson’s best-selling book about disgraced, jail-bound journalist Mikeal Blomkvist (Craig), who is hired to look into a 40-year-old possible murder, which takes him and computer hacker Lisbeth Salander into the world of the dysfunctional, island-bound Vanger family. Wright would play Erika Berger, the publisher of crusading finance magazine Millennium, and the occasional lover of Blomkvist.
The film is due to start shooting in Sweden in September, with a release set for December 2011.
