F Gary Gray is one of those people who for quite a long time has promised to be a good director, without ever actually becoming one. While The Negotiator was good, the likes of A Man Apart, The Italian Job, Be Cool and Law Abiding Citizen have ranged from the mediocre to the rubbish. However because he still seems to promise good things for the future, Hollywood is sticking with him (particularly as his movie’s don’t cost huge amounts to make, and normally turn a profit), with the latest news being that according to Variety he’s planning to direct a thriller called Hair Of The Dog.
Based on a screenplay by Kirsten Elms, the film is about ‘a successful executive who becomes the victim of a vicious blackmail scheme that threatens to destroy his family. But he discovers he is just a pawn in the midst of a much darker agenda.’ Well, there’s a synopsis that couldn’t get much more generic, but let’s hope there’s more to it than meets the eye.
As yet, no actors are attached, although Gray has attracted decent names in the past, so he may well be able to do so again.
