He may not have got the role of Spider-man, but even being on the shortlist has probably helped Josh Hutcherson’s career immensely. Indeed, he’s just signed up for a new role in the film Detention, in which he’ll star opposite Dane Cook.
According to Variety, the film, which Hutcherson will also excutive produce, ‘centres on teens who must survive their final year of high school. Standing in their way is a slasher-movie killer who has seemingly come to life. Seems like someone’s heard Scream 4 is coming out and wants to get on the bandwagon early.
There’s no news on who Cook will play, but hopefully it’ll be someone less annoying than his usual characters. Music video helmer Joseph Kahn (Torque) will direct, with shooting due to begin next month. Hutcherson will squeeze the $10 million movie in before he heads off to film the sequel to Journey To The Center Of The Earth.
